Q. Why should we consider an online Employment Practices system?

A.  A recent study that was conducted by the Aberdeen Group shows that: "Benefits cost American employers approximately $2 trillion yearly. Companies characteristically spend between $1,000 and $1,700 per employee, per year for HR administration alone."

According to a recent survey conducted by the research firm of Towers Perrin,  businesses that have utilized Web self-service and knowledge based human resource tools have shown 100% improvement in administrative timeliness, 38% improvement in accuracy and workload was reduced by 50%.

Towers Perrin Survey shows that only 9 - 13% of the companies in America are not using some form of online employment practice tool to become more efficient and remain competitive in their industry.

Based upon the Aberdeen Group Study, this means a savings of $500 - $850 per employee per year in administration costs.

Q. Is the Internet safe for transmitting employee data?

A. Your data and propriety information are secure with EmCentrix. Security is provided by our managed Internet Server provider Intelenet.  We employ Secure Socket Layers (SSL) and Certificates issued by Thawte. The system supports 128-bit encryption, the highest standard of security encryption available.

Q. Do you really think our employees have access to the Internet?

A. More of them than you might imagine!

THE WHITE HOUSE, Office of the Press Secretary, January 21, 2000, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR THE 21ST CENTURY quotes these statistics,

"During the past seven years, computers, high-speed communication systems, and computer software have become more powerful and more useful to people at home and work. Nearly half of all American households now use the Internet, with more than 700 new households being connected every hour. More than half of U.S. classrooms are connected to the Internet today, compared to less than three percent in 1993. It allows Americans to shop, do homework, and get health care advice online, and it has enabled businesses of all sizes to join the international economy."

As of January 2002,  over 164 .14 million Americans are online (source: Nielsen Net Ratings). The odds are very good that most your employees have access to the Internet either at home or at a friends, at the library or at work.

Q. We use M.S. access or M.S. excel to track employee information now. Can that be integrated with the ABR's HR system?

A. Yes, we can import from Access, Excel, 123 or text file to your new ABR's HR HR system. All  online reports are in a user friendly print or excel export format so you can perform sorting and other functions with ease.

Q. How secure is our data?

A.  Intelenet Telco grade data centers and private Tier 1 ATM networks ensure maximum performance and reliability. Intelenet's staff of highly trained network engineers monitor the system 24 hours a day. The Intelenet Network architecture is based on Super Points of Presence (SuperPOPs), an advanced geographically-dispersed ATM and frame relay backbone, distributed data centers which enable high functionality, low/fixed latency, high throughput, and superior reliability to support a wide range of applications.   Intelenet Hosted Web sites are load-balanced across a multi-server cluster using a proprietary networking architecture to increase performance and reliability. Should a server, router, or other piece of hardware fail, other equipment in the cluster will pick up the load and therefore your site will not be affected.  Intelenet backs-up all Web site data on a nightly basis to provide additional protection against data loss.

Q. How dependable is the ABR's HR's System?

A. We construct and customize your company's system using technologies with Microsoft's Windows 2000, Internet Information Server IIS5, and M.S. SQL Server 2000 Enterprise database, which has proven track record (see below) and Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1.  Intelenet Center Distributed Server Environment guarantees 99.97% site uptime.

Fully Web-Enabled...Query, analyze and manipulate data over the Web. Use Extensible Markup Language (XML) in SQL Server 2000 to exchange data between loosely coupled systems. Q. What Is Microsoft .NET?

A. Microsoft .NET is software that connects information, people, systems, and devices. It spans clients, servers, and developer tools, and consists of:

  • The .NET Framework 1.1, used for building and running all kinds of software, including Web-based applications, smart client applications, and XML Web services—components that facilitate integration by sharing data and functionality over a network through standard, platform-independent protocols such as XML (Extensible Markup Language), SOAP, and HTTP.
  • Developer tools, such as Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET 2003 which provides an integrated development environment (IDE) for maximizing developer productivity with the .NET Framework.
  • A set of servers, including Microsoft Windows® Server 2003, Microsoft SQL Server™, and Microsoft BizTalk® Server, that integrates, runs, operates, and manages Web services and Web-based applications.
  • Client software, such as Windows XP, Windows CE, and Microsoft Office XP, that helps developers deliver a deep and compelling user experience across a family of devices and existing products.

What Is the .NET Framework?

The .NET Framework is an integral Windows component for building and running the next generation of software applications and Web services. The .NET Framework:

  • Supports over 20 different programming languages.
  • Manages much of the plumbing involved in developing software, enabling developers to focus on the core business logic code.
  • Makes it easier than ever before to build, deploy, and administer secure, robust, and high-performing applications.

The .NET Framework is composed of the common language runtime and a unified set of class libraries. For more information  click here

Q. How is the ABR's HR online system different than my current desktop or network system?

A. As often as the government and the courts change the employment practices landscape, obsolescence is a primary issue with all network systems. Their upgrades are costly and implementation very inexpedient. With the ABR's HR online system, all upgrades are provided instantaneously, at no additional cost, plus the back end technology and licenses are fully paid for by ABR's HR. Your firm will save money on upgrades, licenses, and IT resources.

Now your IT staff can concentrate on your core business instead of dealing with employment practice related reports and system fixes caused by the HR system. Most importantly, there are no competitor products or services, currently, that even approach the breadth and depth of the ABR's HR Solution!

Q. How long is the ABR's HR implementation timeline?

A. Your new HRIS will be online within hours  of receiving your order and we can start uploading your employee information immediately. Other customization pieces like your benefits enrollment, payroll and termination procedure etc. may require a longer time line, due to the coordination with your multiple offline providers (payroll, insurance carriers, brokers, attorney).

Q. Is ABR's HR's Online HR System easy to use?

A. Yes.  The system is intuitive and user friendly.  No IT experience required.  The system was designed from the ground up specifically for ease-of-use while keeping day-to-day business operations at the forefront.  Our system offers simple menus, intuitive transaction screens and point and click technology. The goal is to have your system up and running and employees using it in a matter of days. If your employees can use an ATM at the bank, they can use the system.
Q. Will the ABR's HR system actually process HR Transactions?

A. The ABR's HR system will process HR transactions such as Pre-Employment, Job Postings, New Hires, Payroll Notification, Benefit Enrollment, Cobra Notices, Performance Reviews and Terminations. Other functions that the system also provides are Consolidated Billing, Census for 401k or Benefit bidding, Cobra and Cafeteria Plan administration as well as employee full self-service modules.

Q. How expensive is the system?

A. System costs vary depending on company size and the level of service you choose. No extra software or hardware to buy, no additional upfront costs, no reallocating IT resources and your ROI can be within less than  6 months of implementing the system.

Q. What are our system requirements if we decide to use the ABR's HR system?

A. We have designed our software to operate on minimal system requirements. All you need is a standard browser and Internet access to use the system. Of course, we do recommend meeting our recommended requirements for optimal use. All software plug-ins are on the site, available for your free download. (Payroll integration  requires Windows 2000 OS)
